I am really keeping my fingers crossed that they will feature LFA in the first season of the American "TopGear" and Tanner will again do a full feature on it.

Ofcourse, they will be having an "American Stig" and a powerlap board as well so that will put an official dry lap for the LFA.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UUCVVn3E70w at 1:52, the LFA blows past the Z28, doesn't look like the Camaro was slowing any, i think the LFA was just faster.

New vid of the black LFA in Japan, short but AWESOME sound.

That clip is pure gold! The Camaro driver probably had no idea what just passed him. Camaro seems to have a lot of body roll in the corners though. Btw does that mean Lexus is still testing the LFA since its at the Ring?

So unfortunately, Ferrari 458 Italia ran 7:32.9 around Nurburgring. LFA is still in 2nd place overall. Turbo S, SLS AMG etc. all are a lot slower.

7:32,9 min – Ferrari 458 Italia
7:38,9 min – Lexus LFA
7:40,8 min – Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Superleggera
7:41,2 min – Porsche 911 Turbo S Aerokit
7:43,7 min – Nissan GT-R
7:44,4 min – Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG
7:52,4 min – Wiesmann GT MF5

Every single review I've read on the 458 is saying while not the most involving car the handling and acceleration are simply out of this world.

From my understanding Ferrari thinks it is so good there won't be a Stradale or Scuderia version.

Thanks for posting the update. 6 seconds is ridiculous. I wonder if there's mention of which tires are used. And sorry to say this yet again but, this is why Lexus need to step up to the plate themselves and publish the lap time that they do have, which, by the way, could be every bit as "real world" as any magazine's as long as Lexus can provide evidence that the car was all stock and the driver was a real human (who happens to be a lot more familiar with the dynamics of the LFA and has the luxury of trying for the best lap for a lot more times). People looking at this chart would then be reminded of the fact that the LFA was proven capable of sub-7:20 if Lexus would only put the fate of their performance image in their own hand. Without the "halo"/safety net of an official sub-7:20 time, the same chart that you were using to shut up the haters last week may now probably be used by them to shut you up.

458 Italia was wearing Michelin Pilot PS2 tires. Any official times will not make a difference since here 458 Italia flat out was quicker than the LFA as you can see GTR and ZR-1 are so far down low despite their official times. If anything, their official times make them look bad to any people other than the one's worship marketing.

The two major things Lexus can fix are the tires and the aerodynamics due to the spoiler. LFA had a 10 km/h lower top speed on the back straight, which is 100% an aerodynamics issue.

Anyway, here is a screen capture of LFA from the R8V10's cabin at 66 mph. Both cars used launch control system in this run. Clearly, LFA is already 2.5 car lengths away by 62 mph (100 km/h) using launch control.

Since Audi always does 0 - 60 mph in 3.4 - 3.5 seconds with r-tronic launch control, suffice it to say LFA with launch control is easily 3.2 - 3.3 seconds

Thanks, and the LFA was still wearing the S001? Anyway, the fact that the LFA, the GT-R and the 458 all posted 7:38 in SportAuto's supertest but are a whopping 11 seconds apart here proves how enormous a difference a different driver can make, and how deceiving test results from only one particular driver, who may be more suited to certain cars than others, can be. This is why I've repeated that I value overall ranking more than results from a single driver--it shows you what a car, not a driver, is capable of. Fact is that in the overall best 'Ring time ranking that's distributed everywhere the GT-R and the ZR-1 are still further up the list. Most people don't do further research for individual articles and stop at that overall ranking and that's what counts. BTW, Nissan and GM both invited 3rd-parties to witness/verify the validity of their best lap times. Lexus should do the same IMO. A better driver (factory driver) is all it takes. Those magazine times don't make the official times look bad, but only remind us of the limitations of magazine test drivers who do not get enough time to familiarize themselves with the cars to extract full potential out of all of them.
The two major things Lexus can fix are the tires and the aerodynamics due to the spoiler. LFA had a 10 km/h lower top speed on the back straight, which is 100% an aerodynamics issue.
Fixing the spoiler will help the straightline tests but won't help the 'Ring time because the car will then lose the superior cornering speeds that it currently enjoys.

Hopefully your analysis is right and Lexus will update their official 0-60 time with this better launch control taken into account.

I heard the LFA is at the new Vegas dealership until tomorrow, so I might go check it out. Any specific pic requests if I do go and it's there?

The LFA there actually looks like one of the Concept II era prototypes (certainly I could be wrong - it's hard to tell due to the low framerate).

The LFA had that poster/flyer that said 0-60 in 3.2 seconds, remember? Everyone said it was just for a dealership, but I figure it's pretty accurate. Just think, the LFA is still wearing those shoddy bridgestone tires, well, if it wore the tires the 458 had, it could take off at least 3-4 seconds. What I think is that the wing is angled the way it is now to keep the car planted in place of mechanical grip or tire grip. So the aero grip is needed because the tires aren't the best or the stickiest there is. So potentially the wing could lose some of it's angle and still produce 80% of the downforce it does currently, and still be able to corner at tremendous speeds because of the increase in tire grip.

Did a blowup of the gif and it seems to be the final spec LFA in gloss black.
