Default Lexus LFA *OFFICIALLY* confirmed for production by Toyota.

*Note to mods: I decided to post this in Car Chat because of a large number of people on CL who still refuse to believe the existence of the LFA, or to acknowledge it is actually coming. I think this thread is needed to clear up a lot of misconceptions.

So here it folks, official confirmation from Toyota's president himself:

I will use your post from the Infiniti Essence thread

Sigh....Infiniti has confirmed the Essence is not going to be built. Toyota is confirming what we knew, the LF-A is coming.

Can we talk about the LF-A or is that too hard to follow (and swallow).

Lets talk about the LF-A then So, when will it be in U.S. showrooms? What option packages will be available?

Are you posting just to provoke flaming? I am genuinely curious.

The LF-A is now officially confirmed for production by Toyota. Your post is completely irrelevant.

The Infiniti Essence is officially confirmed by Infiniti that it will NOT be coming to production.

Latest word is that the LF-A will be in showrooms at the end of 2010. Option packages are obviously not out yet, as the production car has not been shown yet. The car is supposed to be shown in Tokyo in October. Toyota probably won't release detailed option package information until next year, as that is what Toyota usually does with new product launches.

The LF-A looked cool back in 2005, now it's starting to look dated before it makes it to production.

^ Well it doesn't need to be produced exactly as the concept.

either way... FINALLY. The LFA was becoming something of an NSX

Oh, so have you seen the production LFA since you are making this statement? Oh wait, the production LFA has NOT been shown yet. Stop commenting on the *concept* car's styling, when the production car could have different styling that may not look "dated".

I don't want to go off-topic, but this is a huge slap in the face to Honda. Honda is now the only major Japanese automaker with no supercar. Nissan has the GT-R, and the LFA is now officially confirmed.

Hyundai is closer to making a supercar than Honda...
