LF-A shows ZR-1 and GT-R who is King of Nürburgring
A video released by Gazoo Racing yesterday allows us to independently compare the ZR-1/GT-R laptimes with the LF-A's for the very first time.
Go to http://gazoo.com/racing/ajidukuri/nu...movie_list.asp , click on the second video link, fast forward to 2 mins and 17 seconds and pause.
Now go to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QT2KYmsT9Qo , pause at 6 seconds and then start both video's simultaneously. The LF-A is way quicker, even when it has to deal with traffic obstruction (costing at least 10 seconds) !! Of course this is a race prototype and not the final production version of the car but this sure looks very promising

TLe2006 is right. The LF-A race is just that, a race car, meaning it has no extra heavy luxury equipment AND is a equipped with a roll cage. You can't compare a race car to a street car.
That being said it was a great video.

JGTC cars are tube framed hand built race cars, that weigh about 1000kg. I think the LFA N24hrs would be at a disadvantage.......

he is comparing race cars to road cars. I am just trying to make a point. I am well aware that they are not well matched, but neither is the LFA race car vs the ZR1 and the GTR

As MR F1 pointed out the race version and production version of the LF-A are indeed very similar, with the same engine and about the same weight (division 2 SP8 class requirements see adac.24h-rennen.de website).
While it has no weight-adding luxury equipment, it does have a heavy rollcage and data instruments the final version won't have. Furthermore it still is unknown if this race version LF-A had restrictions (added weight, rev limiter?) to fit in that SP 8 class or not, so i am not at all convinced the race version is any lighter than the production car. THE major difference is the huge rear wing on the race version, which obviously adds lots of downforce. Finally i want to point out that the video of the ZR1 and GT-R both show their fastest ever recorded Nürburgring times, while the LF-A video shows a random 9 min 10 s run, which is not at all the fastest laptime it ever managed on the combined Nordschleife and GP track (8min 41sec 646ms is i believe, see VLN.de site).
So it is not comparing apples to oranges, but more like comparing red to green apples :-)

red to green apples??? I like the way you put that. I see what you are saying, but the bottom line is the comparison is between cars in the same class ( think race rules)

the lf-a is likely to be at least twice as expensive as a zr-1 or gt-r so it's not exactly a relevant comparison.

The Ferrari's are probably a more limited production than the Porche's so they are more expensive because of that too.
They've also compared a more limited production Ferrari Enzo(limited to 399 produced) that cost ~$700K, to the $400K-ish Porsche Carrera GT(~1,400+ produced) and the Mercedes SLR, which are also limited production, but not nearly as rare.
The same applies here for the LF-A here if they are only making 500 of them, and I've always said I prefer them to produce and sell more of them at a lower price than what has been reported/speculated so far ...
