Default LF-A to Lose its Hyphen

On November 27, 2008, Toyota Motor Corporation filed with the Canadian Trade-Marks Office Trade-mark Application No. 1419801 for the mark LFA [sic] for intended use in association with automobiles and structural parts thereof.

On December 1, 2008, U.S. Trademark Application No. 77623634 also for LFA was filed with the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

The fact that they have recently filed TM applications seems promising that the project has not been scrapped.

That's encouraging to hear, thanks for the info
I don't really like LFA as a production car designation though ...

^ When the power and numbers the car puts out is considered sedate by the current market leaders.

I have said it before, they should either scrap it, or if they decide to go ahead with production, the longer they wait, the more they have to up it's performance even more for it to make any sigificant impact.

Sort of improper, since LF = Lexus Future.

I think it should be XX-F. Some two letters followed by an F, just like the IS.

IS F
GS F
LS F
SC F

LFA?

I think GT F sounds good, albeit a bit generic.

http://tess2.uspto.gov/bin/gate.exe?...ate=qaspm5.1.1

You can search for US trademark apps there...IS-F filed in 2006, etc. No GS-F filed yet...no other LF- filings in my searches...I was wondering if they filed anything else recently...? Looked for GT-F and GT 500 but no filings yet.

LFA is so awkward. My tongue gets tied up trying to say it.

At the recent Fuji Speedway event, the video shows the announcer going...

"L! F! A!"

I do think they should change it to GT-F...but then again I was a bit surprised by IS-F and got used to it. At least there's no 'LF1" trademarked...

As I posted in the other thread, I believe that it is critical that Lexus keep the F in the name. The Germans each have their own dedicated performance moniker (ie. M, AMG, and RS) and Lexus needs to follow suit.

The biggest criticism I keep hearing on the other sites is that Lexus lacks pedigree and therefore credibility. To gain that respect, they will need to successfully introduce and expanded line up of F vehicles.

Here`s hoping.

Agreed, and to be sure the LF-A II concept had F-badges on it, so did the LF-AR concept...I think GT-F would do the trick.
