I have no skin in this game but looking at your diagram, in my slow uneducated Buford, GA mind the color diagram looks to show that the roof is steel in cars with the sunroof and aluminum in the sunroof delete.

Am I the only one seeing/reading it this way?

^^^^No you are not. I've seen that depiction before, and thought the no moonroof top was aluminum.

The IS F roof is the same part number as my ISx50. I swear mine is steel. I can check with a magnet if you really want, haha.

Same part number as the rest of the 2IS probably means it is steel. If it weren't so much expensive work, I'd get rid of the moon roof...

Those pages are from the IS F specific manual.

Correct, I had a Mint 2012 USB ISF without Moonroof that i sold back in Sept-Oct of 2013.
Some University ended up purchasing in DC to do some research...Apparently, they were specifically looking for one without the Moonroof.

All I can say is WOW, I wish I didn't own my F because I would be all over that.

This may be a stupid question but does anyone know a place that can create a custom carbon fiber roof? I bet that would be the biggest weight loss the F can get. I can't imagine it because cheap... at least 3k for a company to make a one-off cf roof.

I just stumbled upon this thread, which I appreciate as I try to buy all my own cars without sunroofs...not always an easy thing to do!

I was going to suggest finding a carbon roof to replace the OEM roof panel as this would certainly be easier than finding a slicktop IS-F, but I see the guy above me did make the same suggestion. I hope the OP did find what he was looking for!
