Bay Area FS: 1999 Lexus GS400 Black - Timing Belt / Radiator recently replace
For sale is a Black 1999 Lexus GS400. The car has 204k miles on it. >90% of this is freeway miles. Major maintenance recently done (see below).
I’m the second owner, I bought this in 2001 when it had 20k miles on it. I’m selling this because I already have two other cars. Car has never been in an accident.
Blue Book value for this car in GOOD condition is $4800. The condition for this car is between GOOD and VERY GOOD, but I’m pricing this at $4300.
Quick Specs:
+ Engine: V8, 4.0L engine producing 300 hp @ 6000 rpm and 310 ft-lbs @ 4000 rpm of torque
+ DriveTrain: Rear Wheel Drive, 5-speed automatic
+ Options: Spoiler, 6-Disc Changer, Seat heater
The good:
+ Car runs great. Very powerful and drives like new.
+ The transmission shifts as smooth as it did when it was 2 years old (when I first bought it)
+ The car is unbelievably reliable. I have NEVER had a problem with the car besides wear and tear issues and it has never broken down on me.
+ Timing belt + Water Pump + AC Belt + Crank Seal + Radiator replaced at 193k miles. This is well over $1k in maintenance. (receipt avail)
+ Clean Title History, never been in an accident
+ I just paid for the registration in December 2014
+ The engine compartment is clean with no leaks.
+ All electrical system works great (Air conditioning, Heating, Display, Sound system, Lighting, etc)
The neutral:
+ Paint chips and usual wear and tear on the paint. Fairly average of a 16 year old car.
+ Leather condition is fairly average of a 16 year old car.
The not so good:
+ Once in a while, before the car is warmed up, the following could happen: Drive, come to a stop, step on gas, transmission not engaged (as if you’re hitting the accelerator on neutral). To resolve this, shift to neutral and then back to drive to re-engage the transmission and all’s good. This doesn’t happen all the time and it NEVER happens while you are driving, only when you’re stopped. I have only ever experience this within the 1st minute of a cold start.
+ Right rear door lock must be locked/unlocked by hand (not by remote)
+ You’ll notice there are two holes on the A-pillar from the pictures. I used to have speakers mounted there but accidentally threw the speakers out as I was selling my audio system so not it’s just two holes there.
+ Missing one lug nut from one of the rear wheel. (probably cost a couple of bucks)
Others:
+ I have Tein HA Coilover suspension installed. The ride height is adjustable. This also means the car rides stiffer than stock, but it does make it handle a lot better.
+ I have TRD Sway Bars (suspension) installed. This eliminates most of the body roll when you make a turn (better handling).
+ I’ll have the smog inspection done.
+ Car has pretty dark tint as you can see from the pics
+ You’ll get two sets of master keys + valet key
