1997 5 speed SC300 129k miles
aloha,
ok so heres the story:
bought this sc around february '09, from whom i believe was the second owner. owner was a middle aged, family man living in bellevue, WA (i lived in bremerton at the time.)
i had the car for maybe 2 months, and one early morning on my way to work from seattle i fell asleep at the wheel.
i awoke to the rubble strips, and corrected as much as i could without OVER correcting, i did not hit the guard rail head on, but rather scrapped along it before pulling away.
the problem was that there was no shoulder at all, the guard rail on this section of road was less approx 2-3" from the pavement.
the resulting damage was cosmetic at best. (see photos)
-damaged hood
-damaged bumper (replaced with soarer bumper)
-damaged driver fender (working on finding another
-slight scrapes along the driver side
-i think i might have severed one of the a/c lines
i drove the car home and parked it in the garage where it stayed until:
in october 2009 i received orders to be stationed in san diego. i ended up moving the car to my friend's garage (on base in bangor, wa) and drove my other car to sd. i had always planned on shipping the car down to sd but never did....
until may of this year when my friend was given orders to be stationed in the midwest. so i flew up to WA and drove the car down to sd.
-new battery
-no leaks
well, now im getting stationed in hawaii and the navy will only pay to ship 1 car and i have 4. i dont want to get rid of any of them, but i also dont want to pay over a grand each to ship the rest of them. im not completely "sold" on the idea of selling my sc and i dont think ill get the money im asking for it, but at the least i can tell myself that i tried. if i dont sell it, ill still be happy.
parts included, not installed:
-tt supra front calipers & rotors
("jdm supra tt jza80 oem 4 piston brake caliper kit mk4" paid $575 in '09)
-helical lsd
("lexus sc300 jza80 t-2 torsen helical lsd from japan" paid $669 in '09)
asking price: $8000
now i very highly doubt ill get this price and/or that ill sell the car at all. im sure some people will think that this car is "only worth half that" etc
but im still attached and i dont HAVE to sell it.
as well as:
it has relatively low miles,
a good interior,
its a 97,
a factory 5 speed (the 120/121 club,)
the 2 parts coming with it.

photos from september 2012 visit to WA, before bumper replacement:
before the accident i wouldve rated the exterior at a 9/10.
more photos to come, but i have these on my desk top now and i want people to see the worst of it first so they know what theyd be getting into

I remember this car being for sale a few years back, it looked in immaculate condition. I was going to drive down and make an offer if everything checked out, but I guess you got to it before I did.
Its a shame about the accident, especially on such a rare car. Plus side is that its not at all that bad. I will say that its highly unlikely youll get close to $8k with that damage. You'd maybe get $8k if there was no damage.
Either way, still a gem and GLWS.

the guy told me that someone in tx had contacted him about buying it and was ready to buy it sight unseen and have it shipped down so i got a loan the next day and paid what he was asking, no haggling.
and i completely agree that 8k is a silly price and im not expecting to get it, and its even more silly that i list it but at least when im in hawaii with 4 cars i can say 'hey man at least you tried to sell it'
and, thank you

fender came in from japan. color match isnt 100% but its better than nothin
after cleaning her up and installing the fender, ive re-fallen in love with her.
probably wont sell her anymore, and will eventually restart my build, with thread
