Default 1993 Lexus SC400: So.Kali/new tires/headlights/Tein SS, more!

Up for sale is my beloved 1993' SC400. It's dark green with spruce interior. Pictures will be available shortly.

It's my first Lexus and it's also the first car that truly surprised me with its genuine Toyota solid reliability. The car has just over 251k miles now.

I bought the car from its first owner (who happened to be a service manager at a Toyota dealership) in 2003' with 168,272 miles. Ever since the car has been virtually bulletproof and even nowadays, it still purrs like a kitten!

THE GOODS

Nakamichi stereo w/ 12 disc CD changer

Windshield was replaced sometime in 2002'

Brand new front lip installed in 2003' (purchased from Lexus of Sacramento)

Brand new silver Lexus emblem set installed in 2003'

95'-96' updated taillights installed in 2003'

Chrome exhaust tips and 95+ cup holder installed in 2004'

Johnson tint (40% and 35% rear) installed in 2004'

Brand new Tein SS suspension installed by TM Engineering in 2005' @ 191,322 miles

H&R 25mm rear wheel spacers installed in 2005' @ 191,695 miles

Brand new headlights/seals installed in 2006' (purchased from Carson Toyota)

5000k McCulloch HIDs

NO DIMMING on the instrument dash whatsoever!!

ALL LCD SCREENS WORK!!

Most dings/dents have been repairs except for a couple very small ones

All power functions still work

Oil changed every 3k miles!

Almost new 17' stagger tires with GS400 rims

SERVICE PERFORMED:

Transmission replaced in 2003' @ 170,699 miles

Power steering pump replaced in 2004' @ 172,936 miles

Timing belt/water pump/cam seal/crank seals/thermostat/transmission mount replaced in 2005' @ 193,905 miles

Passenger side right lower control arm bushings replaced in 2006 @ 198,107 miles

Power steer rack replaced in 2007' @ 215,964 miles

A/C top plate gasket replace/refilled freon in 2007' @ 220,239

Brakes have just been serviced (new brake pads and new rear rotors) in 2007' @ 232,246 miles

New battery/spark plugs installed in 2007' @ 232,246 miles

Transmission fluid changed in 2007' @ 238,234 miles

Alternator replaced in 2008' @ 238,770 miles

High pressure hose replaced in 2008' @ 251k miles

The bads:

-Driver side leather seat is cracked and torn

-The usual cracks on the A/C vents and interior pieces

-Rock chips from driving on highways

-Trunk shocks do not hold up

-Rear speakers do not work for some reason

Overall, it's been a very satisfying and reliable daily driver for me. The fact that there are at least four lawyers in my office (including myself) with SC400/300 as daily drivers for mostly highway commutes is a true testament to its reliability.

This car has beaten a Mercedes W220 S500 on the highway and embarrassed a few V8 Mustangs that took its performance lightly. It also feels a lot stronger and powerful than all the 1st Gen. LS400s I drove. Most of the services were done in the past 3-4 years with Luxury Motorwork in Monrovia, CA.

I really like this car but I simply don't have the time/space to have more than 3 cars at a time. Hopefully, I can help it find a new home that it deserves.

Please PM me if you're interested. My asking price is $4,500. The car is located in San Gabriel Valley.

Thanks!

Jon

Price is reduced to $3,500 as of today.

Since the last post the car has approximately 261k on the odometer, which means I really haven't driven her much in the past couple of years. All the stock LED needles and lights on the dashboard still work!!!

Additionally, one of the light bulbs on the A/C LCD display had burnt out but the LCD screen still works perfectly. The Nakamichi head unit has apparently started to act up and would not work at times.

Other than that, the car still runs pretty strong and has plenty of potentials for fellow Lexus enthusiasts.

Decided to keep the car in 10' and changed my mind now.

The car is once again for sale, with 261,164 actual miles on the odometer.

I have done the following upgrades/repairs to the car last year:

-New dark tint by California Tint in Rosemead, CA
-New Infinity speakers throughout the interior
-New seat covers
-New aftermarket GPS unit w/ rear mounted reverse camera
-Repainted rear spoiler and side mirrors
-Upgraded the A/C unit to the new R134a compliant unit
-Lexus OEM 5-speed bezel/shift boot w/ chrome shift ****
-Lextech white lighting A/C LCD display

Price remains the same for the car.

Thanks!

Jon

Is it manual ? Judging by the interior pic, it sure looks it.

It's actually an automatic.

A lot of guys on the forum have done this to make the shifter area look better.

If desired, to go back to stock I still have the stock auto shifter/shifter plate that can be supplied with the car.

Thanks!
