FS: 1998 GS400 Black on tan in Southern California
With much hesitation, I'm selling my baby- my 1998 GS400. It has the black exterior and tan leather interior. I have been a long time CL member. I have owned this GS for about 4 years. No known accidents of any kind. There's a few minor dings or dents but something you can't tell from 5- 10 feet away. You can view my previous posts here and get an idea how I loved and maintained the car. I am not leaving CL and will be here to stay as I still have the RX300 and most recently the SC430.
This car came fully loaded with ALL available factory options for the 1998 model year:
*touch screen GPS voice navigation system (software map: ver 2001),
*HID/Xenon auto-leveling headlights,
*yellow fogs,
*6-disc CD changer in glove box,
*heated leather seats,
*chrome 17" 5-star wheels,
*spoiler with LED third brake light.
Add-ons are Lexus L-tuned suspension (shocks and springs), and L-tuned sports steering ECU. Completely stock engine and exhaust (ok, except for the exhaust tips which I replaced with much nicer ones- see pics). If you look at my add-ons, they are so few. That's because I wanted to keep the car as "factory and reliably as can be" with the sole purpose of enhancing the driving experience.
Very nice clean car, inside and out, absolutely no problems, no leaks of any kind. It is powerful, quiet, and reliable. Mobil 1 synthetic engine oil and Lexus oil filters were strictly used. No substitute for the best. Oil changed every 5,000 miles, . I never had to add oil in-between oil changes. The engine does not consume oil - period. It is still a very tight engine- just like brand new. Mobil 1 definitely helps. Tranny flush performed every 20K with factory recommended Toyota ATF Type T-IV. Everything functions in the car as it should.
I have the pink slip (clean title) in my name and is ready to go. Awesome gas mileage for a V8 performance - I get somewhere around 21-22 MPG combined freeway/city driving. I drive it like a grandpa most of the time - well I guess, I'm close to that age- but once in a while- the GS spirit has to be unleashed to exercise its muscles between stop lights to make sure it is in top shape. I will miss this puppy in terms of acceleration and handling - this GS is quicker and more tossable in curves than my SC !!
Reason for selling: I bought an SC430 in April to replace the GS. Our daughter has left for college and my wife and I would like to try and enjoy the "roominess" of the SC ;-))
