Default FCHV vs. BEV

Would Toyota/Lexus reconsider getting back into the BEV market that it abandoned when it also broke ties with Tesla on the BEV?

I think the FCHV (Mirai) is maybe 15-20 years too early unless refuelling stations are built extensively. Of course the first Liberal budget includes "$63 million over two years to build charging stations for electric vehicles and hydrogen and natural gas refuelling stations."

We'll find out what the split is between EV chargers and hydrogen stations.

Presently, Toyota is not working on Battery Electric Vehicles.
One of the Toyota reps was interviewed last year, and he said that Toyota will wait and see how BEV's go as far as sales is concerned, and if need be, Toyota's present battery hybrid and hydrogen fuel cell with battery technology can be easily "adapted" to full blown BEV's.
Toyota seems to always play it safe.
Even their gasoline-electric hybrids and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles only use traditional NiMH batteries, rather than the current more efficient lithium ion batteries.

Let's hope Toyota gets onto BEV's for BHP soon, rather than spending so much time on hydrogen fuel cell vehicles like the Mirai which has a 400 mile [700 km] range, but which only outputs some 113 kW [~150 BHP]; even Lexus' forthcoming 2020 5LS HFCV only has a modest 220 kW [~300 BHP] - not much performance for such a heavy vehicle...
