Subwoofer Upgrade/replacement

I am looking to put a powered sub in the trunk of my SC 400 to add a little more "floor" and "feeling" to my system. I WAS going to use the existing wire going to the stock sub and run it into line inputs on the powered sub. I had my eye on the Infinity Kappa Basslink. What do you guys think?
Is this is a good idea?
Should I leave the stock sub in the car or remove it?
Best place for the sub?
OR…should I look at putting something where the spare tire is now?
Thank A Million!

What I did is i took out the stock sub and replaced it with a 10" Free air pioneer sub. I left the stock sub but I tap into the wiring fro the sub and ran it into an 350w amp and had it powered the sub. It made a big difference.

Want to have ground pounding bass and still be able to put 3 sets of golf clubs in your trunk? I had my stereo guy take out my spare tire and build a subwoofer enclosure in that space. He first fiberglassed the bottom
of the spare tire compartment. Then he laid wood across the bottom under the frame rails, sealed the wood with fiber glass and silicone and put another board ontop of the frame rails leaving 4 inches or so between the woofer and the top board. Then he put a port for the box along the back. It is totally rattle proof. I don't know what the box is called but there is some name for it. It pounds! The sub amp is located above the gas tank and the highs amp is under the cd player.
It sounds awsome and I still have that factory look. Just need to make sure I have a cell phone handy if I get a flat!

Platinumsc? Platinumsc? HHHMMM....
I guess more than one can use the name.
I tried to use a powered sub but it didn't sound as good as I wanted. Maybe it wasn't installed right. I went to some pros who recommended taking out the window sub and putting in 1000 watts in the trunk. Th sc is insulated well, plus the gas tank interferes with sound transfer from the trunk to the cabin.
