Default Nakamichi or Dynaudio 340 MKII

I'm contemplating of upgrading my 98 GS400 sound system. I have a Pioneer standard system. Should I replace my front speakers with a Dynaudio 240 MKII or convert the existing system with a Nakamichi system which i could get complete. Please advise. Thank you!!!

Default 98 gs nakamichi vs pioneer

there isnt a whole lot of difference between the 2 systems.pioneer made them both. by 98 only a equalizer for the ls and the 99 sc was all that nakamichi made for lexus.

If you have a decent head unit, I think better quality speakers/amplification make a much more noticible improvement in SQ. Go with the speaker upgrade, and maybe add an amp with some more juice if you can afford to.

Definitely go for the speaker upgrade. You'll be happier in the long run for it.

There is a huge sound difference between the stock pioneer and nakamichi system, I have a car with each in my garage right now and they don't sound close to the same.

The Nakamichi headunit and CD changer are excellent. If cost is your concern, upgrade your system to the Nakamichi, then upgrade speakers in the future to the Dyns. The Nakamichi speakers are not very good, but they're better than the Pioneer stock ones. You may save yourself some work by doing it all at once - install the Nak headunit and amp, and replace the door speakers with the Dyns. Nakamichi woofer not recommended either. Most people here have used a LLC off of the stock woofer leads, then installed a new sub amp and subwoofer for better bass. Neither the Pioneer nor the Nak woofers provide enough clean bass at moderate to high volumes, especially not with windows open.

The Dynaudio's are fantastic. Sadly my 3 piece dynaudio's with the 8 inch midbass driver will not fit in the doors of my 99 GS so I may downgrade to the 240MKII's.
Make sure to upgrade your amp. I'm using a JL Audio 500/5

Agreed, Guru. What I forgot to say in my previous post is that the Dyns BLOW AWAY the Nakamichi speakers, it is not even a contest, period.

Default convert to nakamichi

Can I covert my 93 LS standard stereo system to Nakamichi? How hard is this job?

What do I have to add or switch out?

they can fit.. you just need a good custom shop to mod your doors for you...trust me there is a TON of room in that door...
