recommend me a good 12" free air subs!
Hello CL,
I just recently bagged my car and since I took out my stock weak subwoofer, I have to have a subwoofer. now, I told the guy to put a subwoofer in my trunk and I told him in the spare tire area since I don't need the spare tire anyways so he agreed to put a subwoofer in there. I just have a basic 12" apline type r in there and it doesnt sound good . It was previously in an enclosure and the sound was soo good and now, it sounds like *****. I dont know what to do now. I guess maybe you recommend me a good subwoofer that can produce clean bass in free air?

IS350 Subwoofer system while running airbag setup
I highly recommend moving the pumps to the right and left rear runs quarter wells, changing your tank to a pancake style or multiple smaller air tanks in the tire well. Go with a forward firing enclosure with the front baffle sealing off the cabin from the trunk area. Tune port the enclosure to the correct frequency for the air volume with the port firing up through the rear deck at the rear glass. Also seal the rear deck around the port to isolate the trunk from the front cabin. This will keep a forward moving wave without the secondary cancellation caused from the reverberation of the trunk. The air tanks usually don't require much service so they can be covered by your floor trim panel. The compressors need to be exposed so they can cool properly. No need to affect your sound quality in order to show the air tank.
