JL Audio 10IB4 Sub install in 93' SC300
I've read a few posts about people wanting to replace the stock sub in an SC300/400. I have a 93' and recently spent the better part of 2 whole days replacing mine. I did all the work myself, so its definatly not a professional looking install. But it sounds great and it saved me probably $1000. Here's the head unit I installed.

A close up of the sub. I had to cut a piece of MDF wood in a circle to replace the plastic piece that held the 8" sub, since the 10" wouldn't fit. I incorporated the rest of the stock mounting brackets to hold the sub in place.

Here is the piece of wood, screwed into the deck that holds the amp in the trunk. There were already screw holes in the deck, so i just used those. Worked out nicely.

It's funny how I never even noticed that. I printed this thread out when I did my install over a year and half ago. I copied rossman's amp setup.
I'm going to second that thanks a lot . The pics were extremely helpful. I hope you didn't feel unappreciated. Keep the detailed setup posts coming.

I never did get a thanks in the original post, but I got about 3-4 pm's about the install. So I guess I knew some people were getting something from it. Anyway, thanks for the props.
If anyone does need any guidence with this type of install, I'm happy to help (even though it was like 3 years ago and Im a bit hazzy).

I already replied to the PM about the faceplate material, but to reiterate, I went to Best Buy and asked the installer guy to cut a piece for me. It was like $4.00 or something and he was even nice enough to sand down the edge so the curve would fit the dash.
As for the question about the speaker grill on the rear deck. The fit was definitely more snug. It took a little finesse and effort to get it in place, but it wasnt impossible. I figured the more snug, the better as it would cause less rattling.
