Default Navigation and DVD unlock (Vaistech Model ULM)

You don't like somebody is telling you dos and don'ts ? Is Lexus your mother?

Well, Lexus is not my mother and I can decide by myself whether to push buttons or not while driving or watch the screen, especially when the autopilot is on and watching the traffic for me on a boring highway.

However, I didn't find a solution without drilling holes or adding switches to get the unlock feature until Vaistech came out with its ULM

Vaistech ULM logo

Press the ON-HOOK button on your steering wheel, that's it!
Great stuff, thanks Vaistech!

Installation instructions are available in the Lexus Model Forums. shirosan posted the first one at

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-...pass-kits.html

My write-up follows in the LS460/600 section when installation is complete.

Instead of ordering a new Lexus DVD navigation set* to unlock some Nav/DVD features for the same price order your ULM ! Available for most Lexus models until recent. Please read the disclaimer to learn more about whether it is street legal in your state.

* newer Lexus models have some features enabled but not all Vaistech is providing.

Tell me details please. On a Lexus you need to control GPS, speed, parking break, and integrate a switch. All solutions on the market are doing this and it seems there is a good reason for it.

sorry its my mistake, in 6th generation you need only Navigation and DVD unlock (Vaistech Model ULM)-2015-03-03-09-07-00-.png-.-.jpg cut the 18 pin and 17 pin connect to GND. for easyly using you can connect 18 pin SPD to 3 positions button and manage your own spped filter when you use video or NAVI. you understand it?

I know this an old post but I was thinking of picking up a VAIS or Prestigious Society unit and then saw this post. I did the same thing in my GX470 that I owned many years ago - just cut a wire or two, grounded and al was good. Is this as simple as that in the newer models? Does it matter if you have NAV and DVD? I'm happy to splice a wire if that is all there is to it, but would also buy a model if needed. Please let me know if anyone has done this.
thanks!

Vaistech ULM is easy to install, Y cables are plug and play and identical to stock connectors. Nothing to splice. The best of all: You do not need an external switch and drill holes. Simply push the off hook button on your steering wheel:

vs these mouse like switches:

Maybe good enough for the models below LS or a DIY pimped Toyota. Same with brutal cutting of wires, def. not state-of-the-art for a Lexus. Treat your car carefull, she's not a woman, LOL.

JUST to clarify this :
handbrake to ground i can understand ,but pin 18 ( speed ) if you disconnect then your GPS will be inaccurate. Is there a separate SPEED cable input ONLY for DVD PLAYBACK VIM without effecting the GPS ?

Default Toyota / Lexus DVD Bypass for In motion video or Nav access

Lexus DVD Bypass Vaistech ULM-61 for sale.

Totaled my RC and have this awesome item to pass on to another Lexus owner. Like new and works flawlessly. $100

Have you ever wondered why your Lexus can’t play DVDs while in motion? It’s not broken; it’s just because your car has safeguards in place to keep the DVD player off when the car is moving. These safeguards are meant to prevent the driver from being distracted by the screen while on the road.

Lexus has been doing this for a long time by wiring the DVD player to the parking brake so that it will only play when the parking brake is engaged. They’ve recently changed the way they do this; many newer models have a system that monitors the parking brake, speed, and and GPS coordinates, which keeps the DVD player off every time the car’s moving.

VAIS Technology offers a simple plug-n-play system that’s a three-inch long and two-inch wide unit you can mount on the carpet or chassis and plug into your DVD player.

ULM-61 (Lexus models only):
2010-2011 GS 350/430/460/450H
2010-2012 ES 350/300H

Update 2/8/2020: I do not have this cable anymore, returned to seller thru PayPal resolution center.

If anyone is looking for a ULM-81 that fits 2014+ Lexus vehicles I have one.
I was sold a misrepresented cable for my '13 GX460, so it's now for sale again. Looking to sell for $105 including shipping anywhere in the US.

It clearly says ULM-81 on the cable. It looks to be in excellent condition and actually fits these vehicles:

Lexus:
2015 – 2015 GS 350/430/460/450h
2015 – 2015 ES 350/300h
2014 – 2015 GX 470/460
2015 – 2015 LS 460/600hl2014 – 2015 CT 200h/F Sport
2015 – 2015 IS-F/IS-C
2015 – 2015 RC/RC-F
2015 – 2015 NX/NXH2014 – 2015 IS 250/350
