Default Amplifiers and subs, need your thoughts

So right now im running a set up that is very under powered I feel. Its 2 12" Sony Xplod 1300w peak / 380rms subs with an Alpine 300w amp.

At this point I feel that even If I got another 300w amp it would still be under powered. Almost wonder if it would sound better to just run one sub off that amp.

But, heres the question, Would it sound better to run two amps to two subs or run one big one?

Alpine MRV-M500 stats
500W RMS X 1 (2Ω, 14.4V, ≤1% THD+N)
300W RMS X 1 (4Ω, 14.4V, ≤1% THD+N)
mono amp

Keep that amp, it's good... get rid of the subs and stick with one good sub that would be best matched with the specs of the amp

Try one 15" sub with a large ported box.

Single 12" Type R or Image Dynamics IDQ 12" would match up pretty well with that amp, just depends on the box you have as well

Why should I step down in the speaker area to keep a small amp? I will be making less bass to match a sub to that amp. Id rather either get another amp so i can run two amps ad two subs or run a larger amp to power those 2 12s. Seems like this amp i have is more ideal for one speaker anyway.

Adding another sub and amp isn't always the way to get more output. It all depends on which subwoofer you get, the proper enclosure built, and an amp to match the specs. All those combined can give you the much needed output you seek

Obviously you want to go loud and not necessarily sq. You'll get very different opinions. Running one amp to it will get you better sq and faster response while smoothing out the acoustic "echo". One good sub paired with a great amp will always do better than two average. Invest in a crossover for that sub.according to the music you listen to and the music will improve ten fold.

Didnt think about two amps possibly making an echo kind of sound.
