I am at my wits end with my recently purchased SL3B. I installed it in my 2008 4Runner with factory Nav. My intention is to see how I like it before I put one in my LS430. These are a list of my issues to date.

1. Once I select a song it will start playing for 5 seconds, then stops. I have to hit play again each time I play a song after the car is started.

2. It will either display the incorrect Artist or song, never do they match what is playing.

3. If I get a phone call while it is playing a song I can hear the music playing in the background thru my phone. The other party cannot hear it.

4. This might not be a malfunction of the SL3B but it's about to break the camel's back so to speak. If I am listening to music via the SL3B and say I switch to XM or the radio I do not get the alert tone or hear the phone ring. It's as if it's mutes my phone. I must turn the BT off on the phone for it to work properly.

I have had numerous phone conversations with support. He suggested I delete all my playlists and rebuild them. I did, no change. He asked me to use another iPhone just like mine to see if it changes anything. I did, no change either.

Yes, I'm a little disappointed. I am going to request a new unit and see what happens.

I sent mine to them and they sent me a new one. The only difference is the BT works better. It still does the same things. I don't get how it can be doing these things. They said they couldn't find any problems with my old unit. What could I possibly be doing wrong? I plug it in, follow the emulation process and that's it.

bluetooth a2dp > aux, same way digital is better than analog (in most cases).

also with bluetooth a2dp, you don't get the alternator whirring noise when charging your device.

On my 4R the Aux had a lot of engine/background noise. Toyota had issued a TSB in early 2008 to correct this. Last week I replaced a new filter and plug assembly. It is dead silent now and sounds much better than BT. The only thing you really give up is the steering wheel controls.

Here's what just happened while listening to the a2dp. I was listening to Phillips Phillips. I made a phone call, music faded away as designed, finished the call and hung up. Music starts playing again as designed. Except it starts playing the 3rd track of an America album. No rhyme or reason to this thing.
