Default Auto Toys Dash Kit installed

Here are a few pics of the new Auto Toys dash kit painted and installed. Over all I like the new look with the pocket. The metal rails are now replaced with plastic ones for mounting and you will have to use the DIN sleeve for installation. It also comes with a trim piece that goes around the HU that is paintable. When I had it painted, I had them paint the trim piece also but did not use it. The trim around my Pioneer HU looked better without it. I like the way the HU "sinks into" the kit now compared to the custom MDF piece I bought from fierce concepts. Don't get me wrong Fierce did an excellent job on the face plate, but it was custom made for the Alpine HU I had and the Pioneer stuck out a little further. And if I'm not mistaken, he can custom make ANY combination you need including double din for screen setups.

I took them my stock HU and they matched it the best they could. I had them check the paint codes, but they were only for the color of the doors and the dash. There was no code for the center console. It looks very good, but in certain light it is a little darker.

I'll be happy if it looks really close. Even a $350 custom job isn't gonna be perfect.

heck ya, i'm glad i waited and looked 4 more options, the shop i went to here does really good clean work but they wanted like $300.00 buck 4 a custom radio kit made and painted, so this kit cost $45.00 with shipping and like mayb $50.00 or less to paint it. big savings . also off subject but it shows how paitients really is a vurtuire, i have 7" tv's and they don't fit in my stock front headrest, but i didn't want switch the front with the back, "which r bigger and they would fit in", cus the rear headrest don't swivel like the fronts do, so if u lean bakck they would face down. so anyway the shop wanted $180.00 to make each front headrest bigger and install the tv's in them. that was $360.00 for both b4 tax and tip. so i could have had everything in but i decided to wait, which i usually don't do , but i did this time a found a guy near my house who does leather 4 dealers and does work from his home 4 xtra $$. took my front headrests recushioned them bigger rewrapped them in matching leather and installed the tv's for $150.00 total(4 both together)i was shocked. by waiting i saved over $415.00 i can use that for other mods it just shows not to rush into things, sorry i made this long, just wanted to share this with u guys.

Purchased the faceplate kit from Autotoys. I modified the kit by cutting out the storage compartment so it would fit my Kenwood double-din unit. Four hours later...

I see that yours just like mine was just a little wide at the top especially on the left side. I sanded mine down to make it flush on both sides. After doing that it didn't bow out in the middle anymore (that doesn't apply to yours with the double din). Anyone getting this kit should prefit it and sand it before you get it painted.

VERY nice work on the mod !

Well, this seems to be the problem with autotoys dash kits. I also have one for my LS and the faceplate did not fit perfect. I had a gap on the side. My friend s also had this issue with theirLS's. The GS one seems to be wider at the top. I did not post this before because I wanted to make absolutely sure that there was a problem. Autotoys really need to pay a little more attention to fitment.

KGS4, nice work man!
