I special ordered one from Tweeter inc and they say it will be in on 2/17/03. They will not let me cancel the order so I will most likely sell it. That is if it actually comes in !! I paid $130.00 for it and will sell it for the same price shipped. If you are interested PM me and I will let you know in a few weeks if it came in.

I have an IDQ10 currently in a box in my SC which hits hard as hell and reading this thread made me think I may be able to get some trunk space back by just putting it in the rear deck. I just got of the phone with a tech at ID and he told me that their subs actually perform very well in an IB situation and that the only downside is they become a little less efficient, so if you have a reasonable sized amp he assured me that it would sound almost the same as the current box setup I have now. Going to try this on saturday to see the difference.

Ali, you will loose some output by going IB from your sealed box. On the other hand the sub would sound a lot more balanced (no box resonation peaks), it would be easier to power the sub (you'll need less watts from your amp) and you will get a lot more "upfront bass" (you won't hear it hitting in the trunk if you tune it right). Whom did you speak to at ID? Sub loosing efficiency in IB sounds like bs. It gains efficiency but there is no way it can loose it.

Retrodrive, from what your telling me I think the IB setup may be better for me as I would preffer a more balanced sounds as right now it does sounds like its "hitting in the trunk" as you put it. I just called the tech phone number on thier wedsite, dont remember the guys name but he started telling me about how they fit 6 of the 12" ones in the trunk of an SC when I was complaining about the space in mine. As for the efficiency Im not to conserned as my amp pushes 800watts.

Yup, you are correct about the Qts. I have been thinking about something else when I typed that. While you are right on about the specs of IB subs (best range is in between .5 and 1.1), you are mistaken at the actual real-life application of IDQ woofer. i have heard it in a rear deck quite a few times and it sounded just fine, nothing like you've described. Furtherfore, IDMAX 12 has Qts of .33 and performs it's best in IB applications (I run 2 IB).

While I did make a mistake (brainfart...happens) about the Qts, there is no reason to be all so sarcastic about it. We can actually talk like adults here. In case if you doubt my knowledge of speaker parameters, I gladly invite you to try me.
