Default Trunk release with key remote

I have a new-to-me 2002 GS300. It has one little issue - the trunk won't release with the key remote. The LED on the key comes on when I press the button, but the trunk doesn't release.

I have unlocked the lock in the LH side of the dashboard so that the trunk will release with the dashboard tab, which it does nicely.

Is there some other layer of security that's keeping the remote from releasing the trunk or should I start looking for something that's broken? If so, where should I start?

So...really dumb question...

Are you "pressing" the trunk release button, or are you "pressing and holding" the trunk release button?

Pressing.

Press and holding did the trick, thanks!

I'm glad it was something simple!

I own an SC430...not a GS...but, on the SC430, there's a C-BEST setting (dealer-programmed option) that can change the trunk release on the FOB from "2-second hold" to just a straight "press".

It's probably an option on the GS, also.

However, I personally like the 2-second hold...it's hard to do that on accident.
