Trouble with batt power on a GROM Audio module
Ever since I had engine problems with my car a few months ago (timing belt blew out) my GROM audio module has not been working. I've sent it back to the manufacturer twice and they assure me it works perfectly and the problem is inside the car.
The GROM is basically a small black box that has a wire harness going into the back of the stereo head unit. It lets you add bluetooth and iphone/android integration into the factory stereo. It's a pretty cool gadget.
Basically what's happening is that if the module is plugged into the harness, I get no audio from the stereo. If I unplug it everything sounds and works fine.
After a lot of back and forth with GROM support, they had me pull out my multimeter and test the leads on the MOLEX connector.
Pins 9 and 10 should be getting 12v power from the radio.
Pin 9 gets 0 volts
pin 10 gets 12 volts.
So they tell me there's something wrong with my module not receiving battery power from the radio.
Can anyone help me diagnose what would cause that? Is it potentially something that could be related to settings on the radio? Is it somehow related to the timing belt problem and dealer maintenance that was done on the car?
