Default Which free air sub?.

Now that jl doesn't make tat model anymore what does everyone recommend to use instead? My sc is cmbg next week and I'm trying to get everything ordered. I got head unit, 5 channel amp, component 5.25 for the front and 4 for the deck. Sub is last piece.

Thanks - Sid

I did a JL audio marine sub. I had to use a 1.5 inch spacer and modify the opening. The install is not complete yet, but it sounds good and I have my trunk back. Check my build thread.

I have been mulling over this for a while. With my air ride in the trunk I can't have a sub and a spare. Lmk what you go with...I don't need bass to be heard down the st, but it would be nice to hear it with doors open while im detailing and what not.

I purchased a Kicker C10 to fit in the rear deck as per Ali SC3's install.

i opted for the pioneer shallow sub in a sealed box. the 10" sub only requires .35' sealed.. which is just larger than the speaker itself.. i managed to fit 3- 10"s in an encl normal used for 1 normal sub.. actually its so narrow i only lost 5" of trunk room..

I thought about the pioneer but was worried how it would sound considering how much air space is actually in the trunk. So kicker vs pioneer.

It's up to you, i love listening to music, but i don't feel i quite need to spend that much money on my audio system. Hence why i opted for the kicker.

I didn't know Kicker still made free air subs. I remember them from the 80s and 90s though. They had an "F" in the prefix of the part number, if I remember correctly. I haven't hit their site in forever. Gonna check this out now....

Just an update... I went with the pioneer. Sounds pretty damn good for free air shallow mount. I would definitely use agin. I hat to enlarge the deck lid hole and het a 10 inch ring made and a hole cut on a piece of 11x11 that I sanded /cut into a proper bracket for the ring to be screwed into.

Thanks - Sid

running IDQ10 Image Dynamic and it sounds good. Just enough bass to notice the bass.

looking into this for my 2gs. I've narrowed it down to the DLS OA10D.
