Default 8 OHM sub to 4 OHM AMP

I have one JL Audio 10W1v2-8 sub and a Pioneer GM-5500T amp.

JL Audio 10W1v2-8
10" Single 8 Ohm W1v2 Series Subwoofer
Power Handling:
Peak: 600 watts
RMS: 300 watts
Recommended Power Range: 50-300 watts

Pioneer GM-5500T
RMS Power Rating: (14.4V)
4 ohms: 125 watts x 2 chan.
2 ohms: 190 watts x 2 chan.
Bridged, 4 ohms: 400 watts x 1 chan.

Is it possible to hook up this single 8 ohm sub to the amp in 4 ohm bridged mode?

I think it should - it just won't produce the 400 watts - probably still more than 200 which should still be plenty. If that works for you (depending upon what else do you have for other channels), all you may have to do is adjust the volume of the amp to match properly with other channels.

It will work, but like mentioned above the amp won't put out as much power as it would at 4ohms.

Agreed, but I always say it is better to have extra power and tune the amp down to meet the sub's power rating, than to under power the sub and try to turn the amp up to get more from it. Gain is not your friend...... And a very good point regarding the other speakers, as you don't want to have to crank your volume up to get the sound that you want from your woofer, if this is going to make your door speakers too loud. Gotta have balance.

So this is what I'm working with:

Rear Speakers - Pioneer TS-A1684R
6-1/2" 4-Way A-Series Coaxial Car Audio Speakers
Power Handling
Peak: 700 watts per pair / 350 watts each
RMS: 100 watts per pair / 50 watts each

Front Speakers - Pioneer TS-A1604C
6-1/2" A Series 2-Way Car Component System
Power Handling:
Peak: 700 watts per pair / 350 watts each side
RMS: 100 watts per pair / 50 watts each side

These are run on a Pioneer GM-6400F 4-Channel Class AB Car Amplifier
RMS Power Rating: 4 ohms: 60 watts x 4 chan.

I've read some other car audio forums and with the help I received here I've gotten rid of the 8 ohm JL Audio sub and bought a JL Audio 10W1v2-4 sub.
10" Single 4 Ohm W1v2 Series Subwoofer
Power Handling:
Peak: 600 watts
RMS: 300 watts
Recommended Power Range: 50-300 watts
This will be a better fit with the Pioneer GM-5500T Amp. Thanks for the help everyone.
Bridged, 4 ohms: 400 watts x 1 chan.

Just waiting for the subwoofer to arrive and them I'm hoping to post pictures when it's all said and done.
On another note, the ebay front speaker adapters suck, waste of money.
