In-Dash Monitor Question...

In-Dash Monitor Question...
I want an in-dash monitor in my SC300, but I can't decide what type.
I want a full-screen to replace the stock radio, so that it's y'know, flush, and still appears to be stock, like any modern Lexus would have come with.
However, I don't like how low it sits. I don't want to have to look down while driving.
That said, a flip-up monitor would be better, 'cus when it's up, the screen would sit higher, at the level of the A/C controls which is more or less in the middle of the dash, a bit closer to my eyes.
This would eliminate the problem of having to look down as much; however it has it's own problem, that it doesn't look flush, and factory. That sort of monitor looks clearly after market, and I just don't know if it can look as nice. Also, theres gonna be that ugly space at the bottom, since they aren't double-DIN (y'know, they fill it with that little plastic slot/compartment usually).
It doesn't look good to me.
I just want what makes sense though.
I'll take the flip up, if I can see one that looks elegant in some way.
Can you guys post some pics of your monitors (flush & flip-up) and give me some opinions?
Thanks!

Honestly the way your picture looks I would go with the double din. The flip up looks to hard to get to your ac buttons. You would have to try to go around it or put your screen down to just get to your ac buttons. Double din just look so much cleaner. That's just me though. Lol. Gl with the search.

double din is the way to go if you want the most oem look and also class.
the pop out **** is not for me so i wouldnt do it. too much stuff that can brake, but its also a safety feature too.

Yeah... I guess I'll just have to be careful lookin' down.
The double DIN is indeed more elegant.
Thanks ya'll.
If you have cool pics/setups though, keep postin'...
Im down to see what ya's got, and maybe get some inspiration.
Ps: Does anyone have an 8" Monitor (or bigger)?

Alpine apparently is coming out with an "oversized" double din setup that has an 8" screen. However this will only fit in cars that Alpine makes these special double din kits for...and somehow i doubt the SC is high up on their "to do" list...

Alpine's new INE-Z928HD, world's first indash 8" monitor will be coming out shortly. I'd say within the next two months. Being an 8" screen, it will need to be custom fit in the SC dash. I believe the chassis will be the same as any doubleDIN chassis, but the face will be larger, so modifing the Metra kit or custom mounting this new unit will come into play. I'm not quite sure if it will fit side to side yet, just gotta measure when it becomes available. This will be Alpine's flagship headunit- try calling your local Alpine dealer for features and specs.

I love the look of the double din, just a nice clean look...plus one less thing that can fail...a single din with a flip out the motor and hinges are more likely to have failure.
