Hey guys, just upgraded my subwoofer(again) and I'm shopping around for an amp now! I'm looking for one with:

500W RMS
< $175

So far it's between these two.

look on craigslist for a used JL 500/1.

of the 2 choices i'd go with the excelon as its kenwoods high end version.. an comes with a longer warranty thru kenwood.. the rest of the features look about the same...

Ah thanks for responding! I have a question though, The Excelon one doesn't have a subsonic filter, and I currently have my filter about halfway keeping the bass a little cleaner. And the 8105D has 2 switches a 15hz and a 25hz. Will this affect quality of bass any chance?

i dont like kenwood amps, i always felt they never pit out what they claim. just my personal experience. I really like Rockfard Punch series, they are actually underrated. 500x1 will put out over 600

I'm rocking Alpine M500

its a compact amp and is 500x1 @ 2 ohm

did you get a ported box for that JL or sealed?

Thanks for the input, the JL 500 is a bit out of my price range but I settled on a new amp. Think I'm going to get Alpine's MRX-M50!

It's ported btw 1.83 cubic ft.
