Default Has anyone bench tested a Lexus OEM radio?

I am trying to bench test my OEM SC300 radio to take some pictures of it lit up, but I can't seem to get it powered. I have connected ACC, Constant and ground, but I know I am missing another step since the radio is supposed to power on after pushing a separate power button located next to the radio.

Anyone got any pointers?

does it light up at all? or attempt to?

is the 12 volt source your using actually 12 volts?

did you tie ACC and constant together and make sure of a solid ground?

Yes, 12 volt source connected directly to the car battery. Both ACC and constant connected together and ground connected to the battery as well.

What I need to find out is how to "turn it on" since there is no power button on the unit itself. The factory power button is a momentary switch separate of the headunit in the SC models.

I am not sure if I am supposed to connect two pins together or ground a pin to turn the unit on?

well if you have the NAK system then check these pins out. ignore the colors listed below and just look at the pins..... make sure both grounds are grounded. it may not make a difference but eh....

PIN COLOR FUNCTION - as per metra
1 Blue / White - AMP Turn On
2 Orange - Illumination
3 Red - Accessory
4 Yellow - Constant 12V
5 Brown / White - Mute
6 White - Lt Front AMP input (+)
7 Gray - Rt Front AMP input (+)
8 Blue - Power Antenna
9 Not Used N/A
10 Brown - Telephone Mute
11 Black - Ground
12 Black / White - Signal Ground
13 Brown / Yellow - Beep
14 Green - Lt Rear AMP input (+)
15 Purple - Rt Rear AMP input (+)

my other idea is to take the constant and grounds and do that as normal. but instead to take the ACC wire and alternatively tap it to the battery. see if that momentary jolt makes anything happen to simulate the motion of a momentary switch. it may also be a tap tap hold kind of thing. experiment.....

Where you ever able to bench test the stock HU?

I gave ACC/+B 12.5 V and ground the unit with my bench power supply but could not turn it on. I then jumped B2 and B3 to pretend I was pushing the power button, but that didn't work either!

I'm not sure what happened to my unit, all was well, and my changer was not working correctly. I was messing around with the changer out of the protective housing trying to make it stop screwing up and now I have no radio at all. Checked all the fuses and all are good!?

I'm so stumped, I wonder if somehow the changer shorted and shorted the HU with it?

Sorry to bring this up from dead.

BTW I am using the Pioneer premium system.

I used the wiring info from here
