1993 Lexus LS400 Double Din Install Help Needed
I just ordered a double din stereo for my 1993 Lexus LS400 that normally had a oem pioneer sterero.
From what i understand i need to order a Metra dash kit for the double din to sit flush.
Has anyione installed a double din in the first generation LS400? What do i do in terms of wiring, i dont believe it will be plug and play. Is there a special kit to order? From what im reading you may possibly lose subwoofer function. Some are saying to order a beatsonic kit but the price is ridiculous at $250.
Would this kit work? It has an Amp Integration Wire Harness:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/93-94-LEXUS-...2d318e&afsrc=1
OR would this work:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/LEXUS-PREMIU...sories&vxp=mtr
Any tips would be appreciated.

I am uncertain myself which is the proper piece offhand but Metra has four harnesses (70-1761, 70-8112, 71-1761, 71-8112) that appear on their website as compatible with the 93 LS400.
But it is quite simple to hardwire the radio harness directly to the factory harness. A DMM, a speaker tester and about 20 minutes of time will help you identify all the wires in the harness.
This information from modifiedlife.com will assist in locating wires behind the dash:

Lastly, if you have some good install and 12volt experience you can go directly to the amp and grab all wires there in order to ensure retention of the sub.
