IS 350 - Issues with Levinson Sound System
I have a 2006 IS 350 with the Levinson Sound System. About a year and a half ago I started having an issue where the left side audio would go in and out whenever I would hit a bump in the road or take a sharp turn. When I took it to the dealer the answer was to replace a speaker. It didn't help and has gotten progressively worse. It's isolated to the radio only - doesn't happen with CDs, Mp3 player - only with the radio.
I've also developed another set of problems where in the mornings where the temperature is below freezing, my car will start up with a message that says "Audio Off" and I will be unable to do anything with the audio system for about 15 mins until it warms up. It has also recently stopped pairing to Bluetooth devices. It used to show a Bluetooth ID of "HandsFree" but now it's ID is "1" and nothing will pair with it.
Anyone seen anything like this before? Is there a suitable replacement system or somewhere you can purchase refurbed ML systems? This all started when it was under warranty but has just expired and the dealer now wants to charge me for any work.
Thanks for any advice.
Todd

If the problem is documented before the warranty is up, and they tried to fix it and failed, the dealer should be on the hook to make good with you. Talk to the GM and i bet you can get it good-willed at least.
