Default quick 2010+ IS 250 USB question

I'm trying to help a pretty computer illiterate friend (I don't own a IS 250 myself). They've got a 2010 IS 250 (with Navi) and I gave him a flash drive with MP3 music on it, now I know the audio/video system can play these flash drives but he says the USB plug doesn't fit.. is there supposed to be a dongle that he should use? Or is it a straight USB female port??

Thank you kindly

This is just a regular female USB receptacle. If your friend is computer illiterate, he/she may never have plugged anything in to a USB port. Flipping the male USB connector 180 degrees normally fixes this problem if it does not go in the other way.
