Thanks for the great info, I just finished making this aux port today. Sounds amazing way better than the cassette tape plugin.
One question though for all that did this mod, if you use for instance, an iphone while at the same time charging it through a car charger do you hear a whinny noise in the back ground or even when you pause the player? This noise whine up with a higher pitch as I accelerate. LMK a fix if any, thanks in advance.

Yeah, it does sound a lot better than cassette.
To answer your question though, i've got one for you. Are you sticking a cassette adapter in there or using the cd changer trick?
I'm no longer using this method as i've undergone my carPC build, but i have run into a very similar problem, where the there's that whine, that goes up with the throttle. If someone could figure that one out, we'd appreciate it.

Well, having a cassette adapter in will cause a static sound. Not exactly sure why, i'm guessing it partly has to do with the way cassettes are played, you'll always hear that static.
As for the high pitched whine that goes up with the throttle, i'm still stumped on that one....I just play my music louder =)

Well thanks to Ali and you for the great writeup. I would have never thought of it. I can also confirmed that this does work on 99 sc300 with nonNAK radio. The only thing is that you have to really look at the pins on your radio's board to see which pin is for LEFT, RIGHT, and GROUND. For mine, the ground is the last pin facing the back of the radio, in this writeup I believed the ground is the middle pin. So for DIYers just really check the pins locations. Again thanks

btw great write up, i've done this in the past.. Only one question if anyone knows "does the wire/cord have to be replaced over and over again i keep having to change them out every other month?" which works but annoys me to take it apart

Mine didn't fry. Maybe you have your connections wrong. If you have to replace the cord the next time, try and figure out what's wrong with it. I'm not too well versed in electronics, so i really can't help out that much. But i know replacing the cord is not normal.

to do this, does the cassette player have to work? mine has a cassette permanently jammed into it...
also where do i buy that type of cable that just plugs right up to the connectors??

The cassette doesn't necessarily have to work. It basically overrides whatever input you're in. So even if the radio is playing, you can plug in your mp3 player and you'll hear that as well. That's why you either have to have a cassette adpater plugged into the cassette bay, or have a scratched up CD, because neither of them will play any music, allowing you to play through the Aux input.
And the cables: Something like this. You'll need the female end to plug into the board, and you'll cut-off the male plug to solder the wires to the audio-jack.
