Unhappy LS 430 Speaker Help

I have a 2001 LS 430 with ML audio (and NO nav). After almost 9 years of sun exposure, I need to replace the two small speakers at the corners of the dashboard. I have a few questions before I decide what direction to take, namely:
1. Is this an easy DIY swap, or would I need to remove/replace major parts of the instrument panel? Any instructions anywhere?
2. Other than the (likely over-priced) OEM part, are there good aftermarket speakers available?
3. Are the aftermarket speakers "drop-in" fit, or would I need to custom-fabricate brackets?
4. Are these speakers tweeters, or just small mid-range drivers? What is their impedance?

Any other advice would be appreciated. I really expected the rear sub to go first, but one can never tell with these things. . .

Default Egg on my face. . .

I'll close this one with egg on my face. A bit of careful listening proved that my old ears were fooling with me. Problem is not the dash-monut speaker, but instead is the more common "blown ML sub" issue. I'll start another thread with questions on that.

Thanks anyway.
