Mounting sub box to rear deck?
Has anyone done this? What material was used for the enclosure? Any install tricks or pics? What sub?
It's either this or free-air.
Thanks!
Ryan

Ryan - My enclosure is secured to the rear metal deck frame by attaching 4 aluminum L brackets that are attached to the enclosure at the corners. See pic below.
Material was used for the enclosure: not sure; particle board I guess; it was heavy, maybe an inch thick; it wasn't plywood.
The attachement is rock solid for sure.
Pics - none of the enclosure attachment points, but here are some of the system install

Thanks Corey.
It hits very well, clean, tight. I'm having the rear deck rebuilt by molding several layers of fibergalss to the underside to alleviate a little vibration I get through certain bass frequencies. Also suspect in the vibration area is the sub screen that sits atop the deck; it will get a little TLC as well.

Looks cool...wonder if there is any lighter weight material that can be used?
What about sound deadening (dynamat or whatever)? How much? What surfaces need to be covered?
I have built plenty of sub boxes in my day...just not in a Lexus!!!
Thanx much Dex...I might need some more info later.

it's probably MDF board... you could probably get away with 1/2" all around to keep the weight of the box down... i think that's what i drew up when i was still considering the suspended box...

You might wanna try an Aperiodic Membrane enclosure mounted to the rear deck to keep the box small... read up on it here:
