Default Aftermarket Deck install

Pretty simple question and I did a search, but I guess I am not searching the right words or something.

I have a single DIN Pioneer deck and want to put it in the spot where my nak head unit is, where can I get a dash kit for it?

Cheers,

Neil

Anywhere online, I just did a search on google for METRA sc300 dash kit but the model numbers are 99-8157B(single din) and 95-8157B(double din) You could also check your local car stereo shop, if they carry metra they can order it if its not in stock.

After you get it you can follow my install thread.... https://www.clublexus.com/forums/lex...with-pics.html

Okay guys, so reaching out for another hand, installing a deck with the stock Nakamichi Amp and Speakers seems to be a pretty common problem, I will make a solid DIY when I am doing it to help other members

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/lex...70-8112-a.html

Now for starters, the dash kit is going to be the Metra, the best deal I found for it (99-8157B) is at: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...B+-Black-.html ($15 plus shipping)

Next, the wiring harness, this is where things get a little convoluted - I am under the impression that this harness will work for all speakers minus the sub

http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...a+70-8112.html

To get the sub working I must: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/lex...market-hu.html

twong82 says "All you need is a RCA to speaker wire cable and tap into the Sub + and Sub - wires (black wire and white wire). I was following the diagram http://www.intellexual.net/faq/lexusstereo.swf for Socket D and it lists the Sub + signal as D1 and Sub - signal as D5 ; however that did not work so I thought maybe I was looking at the diagram backwards. So I tried tapping the speaker wire to D4 and D10 and heard the subwoofer. So it appears you need to tap into D4 and D10 instead of D1 and D5. "

But then this thread - CDY says "http://www.intellexual.net/faq/lexusstereo.swf

The aftermarket harness you get will plug into "Socket A." You will need to run RCA-SPKR wire from the sub out and splice it to wires "D1 and D5" on "Socket D." Make sure you combine SubL+ with SubR+ and SubL- with SubR- (so you get two feeds to the +/- of the sub amp).

You can run new wires to the sub amp if you want to go the extra mile, but I was in somewhat of a hurry when I did mine so I didn't feel like taking out my back seat. Your sub won't be super loud my way, but it will definitely hit."

Now I am not 100% sure what either of these mean, one says tap D1 and D5 while the other says tap D4 and D10. I have RCA outputs on my head unit, can I just somehow convert these RCA outputs into the sub connection?

As you guys can see I am totally confused, any help would be really appreciated.

I used the Metra kit and and it fit fine...no gaps or anything and I was very happy for the price of $15.
I used a Crutchfield harness to get my stock speakers working and bought a RCA to speaker wire adaptor from Radio Shack for my subwoofer. I just plugged my leads into the sub harness instead of tapping onto the wires after the connector. Everything works fine for me.
My factory system was the 12disc Pionner set up instead of the Nakamichi though.

Thanks for the input man! I wonder if that will be the difference for those with naks

What harness did you use? I don't have a radio at all. Just a big gaping hole where a radio use to be. Also my SC didn't come with a subwoofer at all. Thinking about getting a sub $500 double din radio and just run it off the speakers I have.

If you all need help in the wiring for the all of the factory setup, check out this link on Lextreme. Maybe this will help.. Its for the pioneer/nak, sub, front, rear, and sub. You can tap into these speakers in the back, just unplug the factory plugs into the factory amplifier. Heres the link. A freaking wonderful link, simply find the correct year with options, and print it off.
