Default Need help diagnosing Nakamichi radio/amp prob, need professional opinions

Hi
This is for a 97 SC400. With Nakamichi sound system.
Here is what it just started doing today.
Turn on the CD or radio and the sound totally stops , then restarts, then stops... turn off the stereo and it may come back on, and again is intermittant for a minute or two and then goes off.
The display appears to be on when the unit is on, it appears only the sound goes totally for all channels.
Is this the amp ?

Default Southern Cal...rainy season...water in wheel well area near amp !

Pulled the amp, looks like there is water under the amp, amp is not submerged, but definitely moisture under it.
Pulled amp, made sure its dry, resoldered all wire connectors on the board...per another poster's Post.
Once I get the water thing figured out, I will reconnect the amp and keep my fingers crossed.
Checked the leaking water....the only possible entry point appears to be at the trunk lid closest to the tail lights. I reseated the rubber rim along the contact area which attaches to the trunk lid. Siliconed it in and this week we are expecting very heavy rains....if its dry as a bone, will put in the Nakamichi
