Change Out Speakers? Other Sound Improvements?
I recently purchased a 08 ES 350 Nav(non-ML sound system). The current sound system leaves a lot to be desired compared to my previous Acura TL. I would like to change out the speakers just to get a better, more crisp type of sound. Any suggestions as to what speakers or any suggestions as to what improvements I should make? Of course, I'm not looking to break the bank!

I'm planning on replacing the speakers in my wife's '07 ES-350 as soon as I can complete a few home theater projects that I have going on. She is constantly complaining about the lack of quality.
I've thought about the standard component sets with a 6.5" mid-bass and a tweeter powered by the factory amp all the way to a 7" or 8" mid with a 3.5" coax in the dash fully active.
As for component sets, there are dozens of manufacturers. The big names like Kenwood, Alpine, Polk, etc. Phoenix Gold and Cadence had some highly regarded sets that may still be available via e-bay. Lesser known but high quality sets are available from Elemental Designs and Pierce Audio Products. DLS and CDT have more expensive sets. Finally, you can build your own. Parts Express and Madisound have all of the drivers and crossover parts that you need. Whatever you decide, if you will use the factory amp, you must choose 4 ohm nominal speakers.
After replacing the front speakers I'll probably replace the sub and add a sub amp. That will allow me to more easily bypass the factory amp and use a higher quality one on the fronts.
