Default Need system advice

I plan on over the fall and winter changing my whole nak radio and speakers out for a in dash dvd, gps, ipod, bluetooth setup. I will change all the speakers out as well. My goal is to start with head unit and move on. I like the factory sound so anything close to that will be fine as long as a little more base. IM dont want to break the bank and have to have caps and 8 amps and 3 batteries. You get what i mean, just a clean budget system. Head unit i was thinking of avic d3 , but dont like the one dvd deal. I have heard good things about kenwoods new excelon one but not sure exact model. I have always been a big fan of alpine and eclipse so those are some options. Ok sub i want a 10 or maybe a 12, but want to do infinate baffle in factory spot. set of seperates up front and 2 or 3 ways in back. try to keep everyting mounted in factory spot. i like jl audio subs and amps so thought about going with there 5 channel amp and mids and highs and sub from them. I would like to spend under 2000.

let me know what you all suggest. I will propably get everything off ebay.

oh yea i have a 98 gs400

Well.... let's start you off here (since you have a factory amp): https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=384430

Then I would recommend an Eclipse with the dual dvd slots. I wouldn't buy anything with a built-in HD because it's going to be difficult and expensive to upgrade the maps and firmware. It usually ends up in you having to send the unit off for a large sum of money. Not huge, but we're talking hundreds of dollars as opposed to some of the other upgrade options out there. Just a thought...
I like the Kenwood and Alpines too.
I have a six channel amp that will run your whole system with no THD that will make your system sound beautiful.
Shoot me a PM. I want to talk to you about this...
Do you plan on installing it yourself?

I have an Alpine IVA-W205 HU and love it. All the features you are looking for and is a quality unit since its an Alpine. Personally I have become a Kicker and Alpine fan recently. I have SPS-17C's 6.5" at all four corners, but I would recommend going for the SPR's. Buy the 4"-6.5" conversion plate form ebay and put componets up front and two way coaxiles in the rear. Polk, Infinity, and though expensive JL are all great items too. For the sub I have seen people go with Kicker Comp10 setups on the rear decks before. I would also try maybe a Kicker CVT10 since it is a slim line sub, thus clearing the gas tank easier. For amps a five channel would be nice, but they are expensive. For about $300 you can get a good mon and 4-channel amp. I would use sonicelectronix.com for purchasing and research. Cheap prices from almost all the brands. Or try onlinecarstereo.com. Both have great prices, reviews and specs on many items. Good luck and feel free to ask any questions.

Here's a sample list of what I would recommend.

http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAu...roductID=18425
http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAu...roductID=17563
http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAu...roductID=17562
http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAu...ctID=19490http
http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAu...roductID=18632
http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAu...roductID=18634
Total cost= $1263 This would be my best recommendation. I have the TMA 250.1 and it is awesome. I it pushing a CVX10 and it seems to put out more power than it is rated, and crisply and constantly, It was also referred to me by a friend who owns a nationally known audio store.

i like the setup, but im more a jl sub kind of man for clarity reasons. i love kicker for bass so dont get me wrong and would rather have one amp run it all.

Idk how you car is, but if it has the rear speakers on a deck. (not in doors) Dont bother running rear speakers. You REALLY dont need them and if your subwoofer is good, it will damage the speakers.

Also check out sites like the one above. wooferetc and sonic electronix.

I would personally go with 2 jl 12 w6s. A rockford fosgate P1000-1bd.(it'll put out like 1300 watts rms) Some focal 6.5 in speakers. Then another rockford fosgate 2 channel amp to power the speakers. Also a cap would be a must.

There is this spot behind the screen to add the blackbird navigation in. Its this removable unit that you can update and customize. Costs about $150-$200 more but looks like its worth it.

Oh the blackbird doesn't lay around. The screen folds down and there's a spot below where you put the CD's to insert the device. Once the screen folds back up its completely out of view. Very clean and easy. The CVX10 is not free-air in my car. I have it in a kicker spec box. Not as clean as I would like but it works well for me. I think the CVX might be to deep to fit in the rear deck too.

TMA is owned by JL audio, I was a little skeptical at first but I have a TMA 250.1 powering my CVX10. It seems like it puts out more power it is rated at, never short on power and has a very clean sound. I have fallen in love with this brands amps, in fact when I get the money Im moving up to a TMA 500.1 since the 250.1 isn't even half the power the CVX can handle, though it already shakes the trunk..lol.

so you just have it sitting in box on floor in trunk. i would think it would be hard to get sound through seat and deck.. or do you have it ported through the rear deck some how. can you take pics. im comfused

Ill get some pics up later. It really is nothing fancy at all. The box is ported and with the old sub removed it allows for some of the sound to travel. However of course that huge gas tank hurts the travel alot, but the TMA along with the CVX still make an excellent combo and can still rattle things.
