How good is the DVD nav in the 1999 GS400?

2000 and before NAVs use a Hard Drive. I've compared mine with a 2001 one, and the 2001 one looks alot better, calculates alot faster, and has a much larger screen.

I have been trying to figure out which Lexus I want and was starting to lean on a supercharged GS with Nav. I liked the new nav but knew little about the older versions. Everything keeps pointing me to the SC430 again and again.
