Removal of Rear Seat, Install of Amp -- Part 1
First of all Kudos to Moshlub for these killer directions....
It helped ooodles when I did this for the first time!
Grab the front-bottom of the seat-bottom and pull straight up. This bottom section is held in place by two clips and should pop out easily. (use your huge muscles!) Once you have the front pulled up, you should see three prongs that slip behind the seat-back and holds it in place. Lift up from the front and pull the seat-bottom towards you.

step 2
You should now see 3 bolts at the bottom of the seat-back. These three bolts are 12mm bolts and holds the seat-back in place. Once these are removed, lift the whole seat-back upwards to release the 2 clips on either side of the seat. These clips are up high towards the speakers.

If you have a 3rd brake light (I don't)
Pry the front (the side towards you) with a screwdriver. Once you have the front side out of the clips, slide the light forward. That should come out after disconnecting the cable on the left side of the light.
To remove the subwoofer cover, pry it up from the front, then lift up some then out towards the front end of the car.
Now, remove the rear-deck trim peice. There are two plastic plugs that hold the trim in place. These are towards the front, right behind the seat. Remove these plugs and the rear-deck cover should come off. Remember, there are metal clips along the back, under the window, when you go to re-install it.

once all this is out, you'll see a black mat covering the rear seat and deck. Fold it off to one side and You'll see the stock amp's wiring connections (hoooray!)
use the large purple wire if you're gonna wire in a remote turn on connection to your new amp.

Now you're gonna need to use a clip-on wire tap ($1.29 for 8 @ radioshack) to tap into the stock low-pass signal going into the stock 40W amp
for my 1993 SC400
The small Light blue wire was the positive signal,
The small purple wire was the negative signal.
it's kinda hard to see the purple wire, but it's directly underneath the light blue one.

WOW, I wandered over here looking for info on replacing the stock sub and here it is stickied!
Hi! This is my first post here. I don't actually have a SC but a Toyota 4Runner The SC400 I'm working on is my sister's and I'm replacing her stock sub for her birthday. I have to do the whole install tomorrow before she comes and picks up the car
So you can get the remote wire and line level inputs from the rear deck area... Does anyone have information on how to lift up the panels to run the power wire from the battery?
Thanks for the help!
btw, if you're bored, you can check out my truck at members.sounddomain.com/macross
really old pics tho

Also, where did you guys mount your amps? I got her a Phoenix Gold XS2500 so it's somewhat big. I was thinking of mounting it over the gas tank on a piece of MDF attached to the underside of the deck. I don't know where else I can hide something that big. Maybe you guys know a better hiding place since you know your cars inside and out.
Thanks again for the help!
Oh, if you guys want, I can document my install as well and post it up somewhere

I just checked my rear speakers, I dont know how to express but they are out of shape. I'll post pics later.
So now I need to replace them but what should I get? high quality 2-ways (coaxials)? components? if so, where do you install tweeters?
I'm not planning to get new amps, I prefer to use stock one.
I have MB Q, q series as front stage, should I get same brand or it doesn't matter?
For sub, I dont know if I'm going to replace it yet.

AUUUGH!!!!
Ok, I've taken the whole rear area apart, took the stock sub out, and there's no amp on the rear deck so they must've hidden it somewhere else (97 SC400). SO, I have to get the remote wire from the back of the deck. Does anyone have instructions on how to take out the deck or at least get to the back of it?
I've been taking a lot of pics so I'll post them all up when I'm done

I'll try to post pics of my amp rack at the first of the week. I think you guys might like it. As far as mouting the amp underneath the back deck, that's what i was going to do, but lot of work. The rack I built takes up about 4 inches of depth and is on 30 inches across. It actually uses the existing panel that caovers the tank.
I'll post pics
