Default Alpine IVA-W200 problems. Looking for spare parts.

I know this is going to be a long shot since I already did a google search but nothing really came up and I'm hoping maybe someone here can help me out.

Here what's going on with my HU. Lately it's been having trouble reading discs. I'll keep getting "Disc Error" on cd-r's, dvd's, and original cd's. I've tried using those cd cleaning discs but it hasn't helped. I doubt the lens are dirty anyways because my brother's alpine unit has been reading discs just fine for over 5 years now without needing any cleaning. So last night I removed it from my car and opened it up. I cleaned the rollers to load and eject the disc because it was also having problems pulling or pushing the disc out. I also cleaned the lens with a q-tip and alcohol. I swapped 5 or 6 discs in and out and they played fine but after 10 minutes the problem started up again.

I'm sure the 1 year warranty has expired so it's going to cost me to get it fixed. I'm trying to find a dead or broken w200 for cheap and swap the dvd mechanism or buy a new mechanism. Any help will be appreciated.

Keep searching Ebay craigstlist etc. Look for someone selling just the headunit without any accessories etc. At first I had this issue with my kvt 910 and then went out and eventually found the headunit that had a bad screen but the dvd part was working.

Right when I was getting ready to swap the pieces out, mine started working fine again and hasn't caused me any major problems since. Its been 2 years and when I sell my KVT-910 soon I'll include the spare DVD drive mechanism so whoever gets it will have that piece of mind.

Have you checked any other message boards out there?

Oh no problem! I got my replacement for about 50.00 as well since no one wanted to bid on a unit for parts. Hopefully you turn out just as lucky as I did on that transaction
