Disagreed. If CD is left in loaded position and it is hot out, same problems can arise.

Once the CD is stuck...what should you do to get it back out and operating again (2002 UL)??

Please advise. I HAVEN'T LISTENED TO A CD IN MY CAR FOR ABOUT A YEAR AND A HALF NOW, BECAUSE OF THIS!

HELP!

You're going to have to have the unit opened up by a technician and have the CD and offending label removed, along with any glue that has made itself onto any components (hopefully none). Unless you know how to do this yourself. Unit will likely have to be removed from dash.

I had the same experience with my WRX but subaru replaced the unit under warranty.

As for getting an updated map, try finding one on CL, i found one for $75.00.

also steer clear or library cds. these often have labels glued to them.

look into litescribe (old technology from 2004) where you can print the label on the cd inside of the burner.

i do not see many problems with my customers, mostly just library cds around here in portland.

It is also clearly stated in the manual not to use labeled discs:

My wife didn't listen to my advice about the cds with label, cost me about $1200 to replaced a 6 disc cd changer in our 2002 Acura TL-S

Yes, our wives have a tendency to cost money....
But on the other hand we get a lot in return if everything works out well.

It does indeed apply. I removed the CDs from my 470 when I traded and the printable media had started to flake on all of them. Hadn't affected the performance of the CD player, but clearly the temperature changes had caused the media to separate. Lightscribe should be fine because the media is below the outer plastic layer, but easier just to use an iPod. Better safe than sorry....

I do disc printing at work and lets just say the labelled stick ons arent used. I've had customers try to bring me discs from walmart and ask if I can print labels and stick them on.

I tell them the stick on label eventually will peel and might get stuck in the cd player.
Discs available locally tend to have a higher fail rate. 20discs bad out of 100 on one brand I've tested 5discs bad out of 100 on another. The discs I use have a 1 out of 1000 failure rate. Plus if it doesnt burn properly its my mistake no theirs. They want 100 discs you'll get 100discs not 80 because 20 didnt burn correctly.

I say no to labeled! Light scribe discs are the better consumer replacement for that issue! Love technology.

The question is will CDs ever get replaced and just be all electronic format for cars?
