Antenna- (93 SC400) motor tries to move it but it does not move
My antenna (93' SC400) worked just fine until I had my amps installed....
Now the antenna motor tries to lower and raise the antenna, but the antenna does not move. When I shut off the car, you can hear the antenna motor working to get the antenna down, but the antenna does not budge.
Trying to help the antenna up or down does not make a difference. It is as if the gear that connects the two is in neutral.
Someone please advise me if I have to take this to the dealer to have it looked at of if there is something else I can do...
Thanks,
Kirko

I had the same problem so I went to the dealership and bought a new antennae mast for $57.00...The old one turns out was broken in the inside of the power antennae reel. You have to unbolt the whole power antennae...unplug the power cables, radio cable, then there are 4 screws on each corner of the black reel that need to come out and one nut in the middle that needs to be taken off. Once these screws are off, you can pry open the reel and take out the broken mast. The new mast is easy to install...put the reel back together and without mounting it back on the car, plug the power back into the unit and turn on your radio and turn it off. This will activate the mast motor and all you have to do is put the new mast down the antennae hole and it will automatically start to wind the antennae in. if the antennae doesn't go all the way in, just hit the antennae head on the ground to force in the brass locks. Then all you do is remount the whole assembly and it's fixed...
