LS430 ML Sub replace...NEW sub Frozen in 1 DAY :(
So I went to the trouble of taking out the factory ML sub out of my 04+ LS430 UL to add more bass output to the system...
MAN, this was a MAJOR JOB on the UL version..
The seats had to be removed (BOTH Bottom and Back part)..Unplug electrical connectors and also the AC vent for the cooling feature.
Removed a total of 7 nut(1 each behind both headrests, 1 behind the panel of the center headrest above the refrigirator, 2 nuts under the seatbacks for each seat) to remove the seats...
Removed 2 plastic screws that hold the rear decking and unplug one electrical connector.
Lift up the Subwoofer grill and carefully slide the rear deck out of the way to get to the subwoofer bolts...remove 4 bolts and unplug the subwoofer connector.
Putting the seats back together and the rear decking was just as bad since it had to be slid in the same way it came out or the REAR sunshade will NOT work properly....
ANYWAY, All this work to install my temp sub box...set the PAC LOC, gains on the amp to minimum and xovers to low Pass around 65Hz...and within 1 DAY, the sub is FROZEN!!!!!..SUCKS!!!!
It sounded good while it lasted, but not enough output..I need to cut a hole on the carpet between the trunk and the OEM subwoofer hole to get more bass in the cabin I think...
SUB AMP - eD Nine1
SUB - 16oV2 Dual 2 Ohms wired to 4 Ohms (400-500 watts)
Wiring - 4 Guage wire to a Distro
Oh well, I guess it's time for a new woofer...

Dude,
I would love to man... I just replaced the LOC and it started working again .
I have a show in 2 weeks, If I can have it done by then and it's reasonable pricewise, I probably will have it done there.

Did the voice coil come out of the gap and get stuck on the pole piece? Or did the varnish on the voice coil wires melt and sieze up? Something else? Either way, it does suck. Have you contacted Alex at ED? If it is a factory defect, they will take care of you.
ED or something else?

Hey Flip,
I'm looking for the stock ML Sub for my GS430. Any chance you want to sell me the one you just took out of your LS. I believe they are the same one but I will double check if your interested in selling.
Thanks
