Nope, although would be nice. I guess if you don't use your cd changer a lot, you can always leave it out and have ipod and satellite.

i did, but without a switch. jsut an ipod dock and another 3.5 headphone jack.

i'd imagine that you could just use the same principal for this mod to make another switch.

Wow, I just read thru all 14 pgs of this thread while at work. I have a 98 LS400 that the changer just went out in. I'm getting ERR 2 on my HU after the changer cycles thru the disc. My question is would I have to use a switch when doing this setup if my changer doesn't work? I'm really thinking about trying this out since I got an iPod for Christmas. I'm still a little confused thought. What is the 85 and 86 pin?

I think you can do that by just simply cutting the audio out wires off the cd changer and soldering some female rca jacks to one side of the wires. You wouldn't even need the relays.

if you dont use the changer any more, you wont need to use the relays which are actually for switching between changer and iPod. simply cut the proper wires and then connect RCA cables for iPod and leave the cut wires to changer there.

I did this setting on my '90 LS400, it is working fine even if i got ERR on the LCD. pls see pix in my previous post

Default My Gen2 install

Pics of my gen2 install, switch next to power/snow is the on off switch. Made the cradle out of a cheap phone holder from Supercheap Auto and aluminium angle, the lead is from Navone Engineering in the States, also fitted a Pac Turbo1 Line Driver from the States to raise the end signal to the same as radio etc.

All works really well, can't thank puredrifter enough for his input into this mod

Cheers

thanks

looks to be a nice, clean install you dont need to use a line driver if you're inputting into the OEM amp, the CD changer is preamp.

Thanx for the comments
Had to use line driver because volume was well down on standard items. Could there be another reason???
Just out of interest, i can still hear the ipod through the radio (as well as) if the ipod/cd switch is on, if that makes sense

Would that make a difference with "line in" connection like I have?

Just so you guys know that universal cable from pcmall.com won't work with the Iphone or Ipod touch, and possibly the new nanos and classics. I hooked it up to my home receiver to test it out and no audio is going out from the rca's. Looks like the only cable that would work for the Iphone is the one from Apple with the video out and audio out which is like 50 bucks. It seems Apple has a new authentication chip installed on their cables for it to work only with their cables.
