Got a Nice Factory Alarm Upgrade
I wanted to keep the factory security system because of it's features. I felt that the only feature that the factory system didn't have was an impact sensor. So I did some homework and ran across the DEI 504K OEM DualGuard Shock Sensor, designed to integrate with factory alarm systems. Basically the shock sensor senses an impact to the vehcile and the sensitivity can be set. If an impact is sensed it kicks in the factory alarm system and the horn starts honking. There is also an on/off switch.
Got mine for $20 locally and $30 installed at SoundAdvice. Install took an hour and didn't look very simple. Installer had to check and tap many wires and refer to instructions and internet several times. It is tied into the hood interface. He tried the door interface first and it didn't work.
Works great, bang on the window and horn starts whaling! Now my security system is complete. Best $50 spent in a while.
