Default The new Pioneer AVIC-D3 is out and available....couple ?'s

The new Pioneer navigation unit is finally out and available for purchase for ~$1000.

http://www.crutchfield.com/S-5aZgK1t...d3&i=130AVICD3

Questions for existing Pioneer in-dash navigation unit owners.

1. Does it fit into an IS250?
2. If it does, is it an easy install for an average user?
3. If you have the ipod adapter cable (CD-I200), will the Pioneer head unit display unicode characters (Japanese, Chinese, etc)?

Thanks

The d3 is a nice piece for the younger generation but one thing keeps me from buying it. The fact that it has single disc slot prohibits you from running your music cd's and using navigation at the same time.

Anybody want to clarify on this?

yes that is correct, that's always been the downfall of the D series by Pioneer. But it's good for someone who wants a cheap double din unit with navi.

you can always get a pioneer cd/dvd changer to hook it up to. and it can take the position of the stock one. easy and problem solved.

You are correct, one DVD/CD slot only. If you want to use navigation while playing music CDs, then you'll have to enter the destination first, the unit will store the directions, then you can put in your music CD.

In my case, I will be using my Ipod 99% of the time for music so that won't be such a big problem for me.

Another thing too is that it has a 6.1" screen unlike most units that have a 6.5"-7" screen. I was considering this unit but I decided to go with an Eclipse unit for the screen size and the dual slots.

My D2 has a cd slot and a navi slot. I also am thinking about buying the pioneer 6 disk DVD / CD / MP3 / single din changer and throw it in the glove box.

The d3 is a sweet radio for a customer that wants to spend little money for navi/cd/dvd. You can use the navi but like someone said you have to enter in the destination prior to leaving. It will then save the route and unless you go off route you won't need to have the navi disc in the actual slot.

The new cable isnt available yet, well around here anyways. I have a bunch on backorder like everything else Pioneer sells
