I just put in a 10" Alpine Type R (ported box) with a 500w RMS Alpine amp in my 96LS, and it sounds great. It hits very sharp, it isn't the loudest around but it is a very clean sharp hit and i'm loving it so far, plus the price wasn't bad at all.

all brands mentioned in posts before are good. personally i would go with jl w3. but doing so, YOU MUST get a box built to spec. for a budget build, i say diamond audio d3. they work well with pre-fab boxes... but like most will tell you, once you put some bass in, your gonna regret not saving up and just start with the best. i went from q power, kicker, idmax, re xxx, jl audio, and now im beating with a digital design and loving it.

Guys, my phoenix gold dvc crapped out... suppose to handle 600wrms. Should I upgrade to the ti version? Or there is something better at comparable price. This supposedly reach upto 4 inches peak to peak.

Cost effective solutions..........
Fi Bl
RE MX
Orion HCCA (10" since they can be found CHEAP!!!)
DC Sound Labs Level 3
and on the high end of "mid-to-high pricing"
But possibly best bang for the buck
Ascendant Audio SMD (Steve Meade Design) (only on 15" or 18" though)
And while I love the JL 12/13W7 and Kicker SoloX, I would take any of the above mentioned subs over the last two in a heartbeat!!!
