JL 13w7 - anyone running one? Need sub suggestions...
I'm running a JL 1000/1. Puts out 1000 watts rms and 2000 watts max.
Anyone have experience running the JL 13w7? What are all of you using with your high power sub amps??
Thanks in advance for the help.

I've not got it in the car, but I've heard them and own one for HT duty in the house. It's a MONSTER Will handle TWO of those 1000/1's without breaking a sweat as long as you don't clip the amps.
Even with 300wrms in the house in a 5.5cu.ft box tuned at 18hz it rocks my house and my neighbours plates in her living room .
In the car however, I'd say if you're looking for LOUD then go for it. Otherwise I'd go for something nice and small that does the job and sounds great doing it like a 10W7 or maybe even a 8W7.
Also consider looking at a RE XXX or a Adire Audio Brahma or even a Tumult. Another bunch of monsters .

I too have purchased a JL13W7 for my SC400 and I can't wait to get it in there. The sweet spot as far as RMS power is concerned is 1200 watts but it'll handle more. I will be using my PG Tantrum 1200.1 which should do the trick since its birth sheet is 1430 watts.
I am doing a f/g enclosure with 12 layers at 1.95 cubic feet which is the same volume as the JL pro wedge. It will hit hard, loud and will sound beautiful all at the same time. I will post pics once I get the project under way.

after doing some research and since i can't find a local jl 13w7 to listen to - i'm thinking about going with the rockford fosgate T2 12. handles 1000 watts rms and has a magnet weight of 302 ounces. HUGE MAGNET!
thoughts? 88supramki? you tend to know a lot about this stuff...

13W7 is a sick sick sub. Put a 1000/1 to it and enjoy, it iwll move your hair. More than enough for me. I have the 10W7 and that sounds good, but that 13W7 is downright dirty. Great sub. I would put it against Rockford any day and you will not be disappointed.

The T2 is one bad mother. It just depends on what you are looking for. Personally I'm a JL fan, one of the other guys at our shop is a HUGE Rockford fan. He did 3 T212's in his Magnum and it's down right insane! If you want head rattling, turn your brains into noodle soup then go with the Rockford. If you want crazy bass but still some decent clarity then go with the W7. We did 2 13.5W7's in a Maxima off of a T20001BD amp and they basically tore the car apart with all of the flex they caused.

What are you running the 1000/1 to? like what subs are you running at the moment? Check your settings and your gain (input sensitivity) on the amp.

I'm running to 2 Infinity Perfect Kappa 10.1. they're in a very small box and I suspect it's too small - 1.8 cubic feet. i have some MDF and can make a bigger box but I want to figure out what sub setup I'll eventually need to do... these subs just won't handle the jl 1000.1 power.

I have a 13.5" w7 in my SC3. Its a beast, but I shouldnt have gotten it. Too much sub for the SC. Its powered by a Directed Viper 2500d. Not really an SQL amp, but a SPL monster (Still sounds real good).
And honestly, after having it for about 2 years, I dont even use the system as much as I should. But its very very nice to have those nites when I want to use it.

If you want the best go with mtx 9500...
I have 2 12" mtx9500 dual 4 ohm... with the 8101 amp from mtx, its rated at 1500 but pushes above 2000..
Complete custom enclosure firing towards the front, doubled up mdf box-1 1/2" thick, ported through the stock sub enclosure and blocked off from the rear, also a red top Optima powering them; let me just say this... before my *new installation listed above, i was happy, but not completely happy--this is my first system btw--and now with this installation, OMFG... loudest damn system in town...for its class... not a single noise leaving the trunk...i have to go to robertson glass tomorrow to get my rear windshield re-sealed because when its bumpin, my glass is a jumpin--.25" off of my car... Sep-ar-a-tion makes a loud glass on hard surface noise...
Whatever you get, make sure the installation is TOP-Notch because it will make or break the potential of your system.
