Default How to upgrade your stock stereo for cheap....

One year ago my big stock sub woofer started poping and I decided it was time to upgrade the stock speakers in combination with my Nakamichi sound system...After much research I found the best bang for the buck was to purchase one 10" or *8" Kicker 300-600 watt rated subwoofer to replace the stock one...Then decided to replace the two rear side speakers with 5 inch sony ipod speakers... I installed the speakers and it didn't sound any better if not a little worse...Then I changed out the stock 300 watt amp to a KX250 watt kicker amp..The sound was 25% louder and the quality of sound came to life out of the new speakers..Base is increadible.....Bought all that crap off ebay for $175 and had it all installed for $75... $250 I got a better then stock sounding system for years to come...However I wish I would have bought the KX450 kicker amp instead and would have doubled the stock power and blown out my ear drums or rear window for sure.....The KX250 amp is much stronger then the stock amp...

Another pic of the swapped sub woofer...Combined Kicker sound products make for great sound... Also note all the other stock front speakers and tweeters can handle the additional power with no problem...

Is that kicker a 'free air' sub?
