Mayur,

What are you going to do with your system?

Are you still trying to sell the box and other amp?

Question Another Question

Mayur - Is that a Punch or Power HX2? Need to know it's impedance before I suggest how to wire it. Also, I'm not familar with cdtech's so is that a 6.5" component set with 1" tweets? Figure we'll need to run the sub on the back 2 channels & use the other 2 for your front stage but need to know more about your stuff.

Default hx2

Not to further complicate matters, but is your hx2 the 2212 or the 2112? Both are Punch, but the 2112 has dual 2 ohm coils as opposed to the dual 4's on the 2212.

Lightbulb Wiring Options

Sark - I must have an older RF catalog because I've never seen a HX2 model #2112. I think maybe RF changed their numbers because the Punch HX2 ( 4 ohm VC's ) is #2212 & the Power HX2 ( 2 ohm VC's ) is #3112. We both had the same question but different ways of asking it, I guess!
Mayur - U have several options but none R, IMO, the best. U can wire each of the voice coils to a rear channel of the 800.4 which will give ya roughly 100 wrms/VC or 200 wrms total to the sub. That's barely within RF's required power handling ( 150-500 wrms ) but if ya don't really jam them, then the extra power of wiring them in the next 2 methods won't be worth the trouble. U can wire the voice coils into a parallel load which turns the sub into a 2 ohm driver which is good ( RF's are 2 ohm stable ). The problem then becomes where to go from there. If ya run those 2 wires to a single channel ( I recommend one of the rears ) of the 800.4, U have a perfect 400 wrms going to the sub but then U have an unused channel. This will be a problem since U will need to use the amp's LP crossover card to send only low frequency signals to the rear channels ( both of them ). U want low ones to the sub but then U can't used the other LP'ed channel for anything other than maybe a midbass driver so U have wasted a channel. The last method will give ya the most power but MIGHT be too much for the sub itself. Wire both coils in parallel ( creating the above mentioned 2 ohm driver ) but then bridge the two rear channels ( as in a mono load ). This will become a 1 ohm impedance on the amp & if U keep the amp cool & supplied with adequate DC voltage, RF's WILL run there ( I've pulled 1/2 ohm loads on them before but that was utilizing an Acculvolt step-up voltage regulator ). However, I'm afraid that this creates TOO much power for the Punch HX2 - probably close to 700+ wrms!! It's possible to run it like this but U'd need to go easy on the volume levels or either the woofer will crap out or the amp will s/d on a thermal overload. We'd do better with a Power HX2 if U can exchange it? We could series the voice coils into a 4 ohm ( total ) load & then run it on a bridged amp yielding a 2 ohm load & the perfect 400 wrms power. Think it over & pick one. Happy hunting!!
