Tilt Feature in Headrest for TV's????
Is there any way to get around the tilt feature in the headrest when installing TV's in there???
When cutting up the headrest, you will find a plastic block that allows the tilt feature on all the headrest, but that plastic block takes up a lot of the bottom space on the headrest. If you are trying to mount an installation kit for the LCD screen, it is very hard to get around.
Any comments!!!

well...I couldn't use the front headrests(too small), so i don't know what they look like inside...I had to use the back ones...the back ones have a metal elbow inside that i had to cut out to get my TV's in....I actually like that tilt feature because in case someone is taller they can adjust the headrest so they can see better...

I had to use the back headrests too, so are you telling me that after you cut out that elbow, the tilt feature still works, or did you have to sacrifice it like i did????
I am running the Pioneer AVD W6000 (6.5 inch widescreens)

so you are telling me if I just cut out the elbow, the tilt feature will still work. I just banged mine in and flattened it out so I can fit my brackets. I'm gonna have to take it apart and look at it again. Thanks for the info though, I will be posting some pics soon!!!!

Sorry!
AP - Sorry I haven't been responding to some of the headrest questions but Joe seems to have covered the bases! Good to have helpful members while the Moderator sits on his butt!! I also had to whip out the Dremel tool & trim the plastic but everything works OK - that's why I bought an extra headrest from Steve to practice on!! BTW - I have the Alpine TME-M750A 6.5" monitor as I got a super deal from the rep but like I've said before - most of the internals are made by Santeka.

Whe I banged it in, the tilt did stop working---that sucks!!!! I want to do it over, cause I like the tilt feature.
Mean Gene---can you tell me how much the pair of headrests cost you. I need the back two headrests in Ivory.
Also, the 6.5 Alpine's that you are running---are they on the original front two headrests or did you swap them out with the back ones since they are wider and bigger????

Call Steve
AP - Call Steve @ Carson for the headrests but he charged me ( best I can remember from a year ago ) $325/rest. Yes, I managed to cram the monitor into the original front seat headrests - just never though about swapping out with the back ones or I'd have run a widescreen monitor. Did need to trim out quite a bit of plastic material, though.

Why don't you just buy a dremmel and cut the metal elbow out like I did instead of spending $600 and up:eek: ...spend only $80 bucks!!!
Then take your time just make sure you buy a whole bunch of grinding bits from where ever you buy the dremmel...
